Former Deutsche Bank Managing Director joins firm that focuses on business services and software for financial services industry
Seeks to leverage extensive global partner network
San Francisco, CA – Kathryn E. Coffey, 42, has joined FTVentures, the San Francisco-based firm that invests in companies that provide software or business services vital to the financial services industry. She most recently managed the Equity Private Placement Group in San Francisco for Deutsche Bank, having established this West Coast office in 1998.
In the newly created position of Managing Director of Business Development, Ms. Coffey will work to expand the firm’s extensive global network that stems from its institutional Limited Partners, 38 of the world’s largest financial institutions. She will work closely with the firm’s portfolio companies on business expansion opportunities and will strive to extend and deepen relationships with other venture capital and private equity firms.

In her former position as Managing Director and head of Deutsche Bank’s Equity Private Placement Group in San Francisco, Ms. Coffey oversaw the completion of private equity transactions for private and public clients in the technology, health care, media and consumer sectors. Prior to founding the Equity Private Placement Group, Ms. Coffey had responsibility for the origination, structuring and execution of mergers and acquisitions assignments for Deutsche Bank’s (formerly Alex Brown & Sons) West Coast-based clients.
Prior to joining Alex Brown & Sons in 1994, Ms. Coffey was an officer in Merrill Lynch’s Mergers and Acquisitions Group in New York City.
Ms. Coffey holds a B.A. in Economics from Wellesley College and an M.B.A. from The Darden School at the University of Virginia.
