Brad Bernstein Promoted to Managing Partner at FTV Capital
San Francisco, CA and New York, NY – MAY 2, 2016 — FTV Capital, a sector-focused growth equity investment firm, today announced that Brad Bernstein has been named a managing partner. As managing partner, Mr. Bernstein will continue to head up the firm’s New York office and lead investments in growth stage enterprise technology & services and financial service companies. He will also assume additional management responsibilities alongside San Francisco-based FTV managing partner Richard Garman.
“Brad’s deep domain expertise, proven private equity track record and strong leadership skills have been instrumental to FTV’s evolution into a leading growth equity firm,” said Richard Garman. “This promotion to managing partner is in recognition of Brad’s many accomplishments and key role in building FTV over the last 13 years. I look forward to ongoing collaboration with Brad as FTV continues to execute our differentiated growth equity strategy with the goal of delivering strong returns to our limited partners.”
In 2002, Mr. Bernstein met FTV Capital while working at Oak Hill Capital Management when the two firms invested together in ExlService, a successful business process outsourcing company primarily serving the financial services industry. Soon thereafter, Mr. Bernstein joined FTV to open and run the firm’s New York office, an important location for FTV given its focus on financial services.
Mr. Bernstein has lead numerous successful investments over the years including: MarketShare, a marketing analytics firm (acquired by Neustar in 2015 for $450 million); Globant, an IT development and services provider (IPO in July 2014); MuSigma, a data analytics outsourcing firm (acquired by shareholders in 2012); ExlService, a business process solutions company (IPO in 2006); and Castle Pines Capital, a provider of innovative, worldwide channel financing solutions to resellers in the technology industry (acquired by Wells Fargo in 2011).
Mr. Bernstein’s current board seats at FTV portfolio companies include: Apex Fund Services, a global independent, fund administration company; eBaoTech, a global insurance technology provider; and WorldFirst, a UK-based international payment platform offering FX and hedging solutions to SMBs, marketplaces, banks, asset/wealth managers and individuals globally. In the first quarter of 2016, Mr. Bernstein has inked investments in collaboration with FTV partner Kyle Griswold in True Potential, an investment and wealth management technology platform in the UK; and Edgewater Markets, an electronic foreign exchange aggregation and distribution platform for global institutional clients.
Prior to joining FTV in 2003, Mr. Bernstein was a partner at Oak Hill Capital Management, a private equity firm where he managed the business and financial services group. He began his private equity career with Patricof & Company Ventures and started his professional career in the investment banking division of Merrill Lynch in New York.
