FTV Capital Hires Michael Stanton as Chief Financial Advisor Joining FTV Propel
We’re thrilled to share that Michael Stanton has joined FTV Propel as chief financial advisor. In this new role, Michael will provide comprehensive finance advisory services to FTV portfolio companies to enhance their growth and sustainability. Working closely with executives at our portfolio companies, he will help drive financial and operational process improvements and best practices, provide guidance with M&A, and work to effectively prepare management teams and their businesses for successful exits.
With more than two decades of experience spanning business optimization, corporate finance, treasury and corporate development, Michael will bring a wealth of knowledge and practical expertise to FTV portfolio companies. His experience also ranges from early-stage startups to privately owned companies to publicly traded corporations. Most recently, Michael was chief financial officer at Diligent Corporation, where he helped scale revenue from ~$90 million to ~$600 million and EBITDA growth from ~$14 million to ~$240 million. During this time, he led the company’s leveraged buyout and subsequent minority sale transactions; restructured the global accounting, finance and operations teams; and implemented a formal M&A program, among other key strategic initiatives.
Prior to joining Diligent in 2015, Michael served as senior vice president of finance and treasurer at SaaS-based education technology provider Blackboard Inc. Over the course of a decade, Michael helped lead Blackboard’s successful IPO efforts, catapulting the company to the top of the education technology market. He also helped grow Blackboard revenue from ~$1 million to ~$670 million and EBITDA growth from (~$30 million) to ~$210 million. Additionally, he successfully completed ~$4 billion in equity and debt financings and 32 M&A transactions during his tenure. Previously, Michael held leadership positions at Dewe Rogerson and CCA Companies Inc. He holds a BA in history from College of the Holy Cross.
“Michael brings an impressive resume of executive leadership and proven results in finance and operations, and we feel lucky to welcome him to FTV, especially at a time when financial rigor and resilience are paramount. I’ve personally known Michael since his time at Blackboard where he did an exceptional job. Since then, I’ve continued to be impressed by his ever-expanding list of accomplishments. Michael’s functional expertise, results-oriented approach and high-growth mindset will be invaluable to every business in our portfolio as they look for ways to achieve sustained growth. His hiring is the latest demonstration of FTV’s institutionalized commitment to providing portfolio companies with best-in-class resources and dedicated support to turbocharge their success long-term.”
