The messy reality of wealth technology today: data flows in from hundreds of source systems in structured and unstructured formats, into platforms that were never designed to work together. That’s why so many AI initiatives in this space stall out before they start.
After nearly three decades investing in wealth technology, FTV has watched the industry’s data challenges evolve firsthand.
In this video, FTV Capital Partner Brent Fierro breaks down why the stakes are so high for applied AI in wealth technology, and where AI is already winning.

When people rely on a system to make important decisions, mostly right is not good enough. The stakes are just as high in wealth management.
Accurate data is the foundation for extracting value from AI.
You still need the focal point to be cleansed, accurate, secure data across structured and unstructured sources, all in one single source of truth that allows you to then run complex analytics, scenario analyses, cash flow modeling, all on top of your system of record.
That’s really a data problem. The more you aggregate from international, complex, multi-asset alternative sources, the more complexity you add to the data problem. It can be very difficult for an advisor to get a real-time view of a client’s full wealth picture.
In wealth tech, we believe the winning approach is hybrid. AI empowers the advisor rather than replacing them.
We see a big opportunity ahead in the shift from systems of record to systems of intelligence and action. In wealth management, an AI agent becomes a partner to the advisor, surfacing insights in real time.
In this future world, AI continuously frees up the advisor to focus on valuable human relationships.
